About the Artist

                      THIS STORE RUNS ON SUNSHINE!

I am a visual artist and I work in a small, light filled studio in my home located in Houston, Texas. My paintings fill the walls in my home, as well as many homes in the United States and abroad.

My paintings range in size and are mainly wall dependent. The paintings I am best known for appeal to the interests of women. I love to paint portraits of families, children, and pets. Still life paintings that have vases bursting full of flowers and other greenery have also appealed to many of my collectors; including many other narrative scenes that touch the female heart.

I am comfortable working in a variety of mediums: graphite pencils, prisma pencils, watercolors, charcoal, chalk pastels, oil pastels and a beautiful array of collage papers. However, I am currently focused on oils and acrylics. For those people not currently in the market for one of my original pieces of art, I also offer affordable prints through Fine Art America (theresa-honeycheck.pixels.com).

Many of my paintings have been sold at exhibits or galleries. Although many new collectors of my art work often discover me through social media, including Facebook, Instragram, and PInterest. I have many works that are not posted on this site, so if there is a theme or a medium (pastels for example) that you are interested in but do not see, please contact me.

To make your art experience with me pleasant and exciting, I offer easy credit card payment through PayPal. Please look at my FAQ page (on the drop down menu) for any return or shipping concerns you may have.

I will always make work that expresses optimism and joy, in response to a world that constantly markets and visualizes fear.

A New Adventure Into Abstract Art

A New Adventure Into Abstract Art
This is a new adventure in creating my art work!

My paintings are evolving, as we all are. I am venturing into the Contemporary Abstract Art world, and why not? In all other aspects of my life, I have always explored the unknown, played with the mystery of creation, yet lately I find myself wanting to unveil - expose - even more of myself in my art. Rather than looking at something and then painting it - which I do so often.  I want to translate what I am feeling and then transfer those feelings to my canvas. I want to paint my life from the inside out. I want my paintings to be internally ignited! I want the shapes and forms to have a forceful presence. I want my chosen palette to be a reflection of energetic colors on my canvas! From my meditative contemplation, and because of looking inward, light then creates a path to follow, regardless of its recognizable content. This shift in my perspective is a new paradigm. The unknown becomes beautiful and alive!

I have found new expression in the Contemporary Abstract Art world. I will start each painting with a gallery wrapped organic linen or cotton canvas. After gesso, I will apply a water based layer, giving the painting a textured appearance. Layers of gold, silver and copper leaf, are then followed by French milled, museum quality, oil paints. This unique layering technique will give my paintings a luminous quality that range from a peaceful etheral feeling to a vivid and vibrant splash! Come - share this new adventure with me and let's find out together if its something we both enjoy!

I will continue with my original style of painting of course, because I love that too.

Food for thought

We are the same. There is no difference anywhere in the world. People are people. They laugh, cry, feel, love - and art seems to be the common denominator that brings us all together. Art cuts through all boundaries and goes right to the soul.

“A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I paint when I look at a painting in progress, I paint when I look at people's faces, I paint in my sleep, I never stop painting - it simply is not always done on canvas.
